Stack Cashback
With Voucher Codes
Cashback sites pay a slice of your purchase back after you buy — and because the tracking works separately from a discount code, the two can usually be combined on the same order.

Cashback is a slice of your own spending paid back to you after a purchase. A cashback site earns a commission from the retailer for referring your order, then shares part of that commission with you — which is why the mechanism depends on you clicking through to the retailer from the cashback site's own listing. The money lands in your cashback account, sits as “pending” while the retailer confirms the order, and becomes payable after that — typically weeks rather than days.
The reason we cover it on a voucher-code site is simple: the two savings usually stack. A discount code is applied at the retailer's checkout, while cashback is tracked through the click that started the shop — two separate mechanisms on the same order. Our guide to stacking voucher codes walks through the full layering order, and our cashback & loyalty statistics round-up looks at how widely UK shoppers actually use these schemes.
One honest caveat before you start: cashback is a bonus on spending you were already going to do, not a reason to spend. Rates change frequently, a minority of retailers exclude cashback on orders that used a voucher code, and payout windows can stretch to months on travel and insurance. The habit that works is checking the cashback listing's terms, clicking through, applying a verified code where the terms allow it — and treating whatever comes back as a delayed refund. Loyalty schemes can layer on top of both; see our guide to maximising loyalty points.
How to Stack Cashback With a Code
Join a Cashback Site
Create a free account with a major UK cashback site. The free tiers are enough for everyday shopping — no paid membership is needed to earn.
Click Through to the Retailer
Start your shop from the cashback site’s listing for that retailer. That tracked click is what attributes the purchase to your account — a percentage of what you spend comes back after the retailer confirms the order.
Apply a Verified Code at Checkout
A voucher code is applied at the retailer’s checkout — a separate mechanism from the cashback tracking, which is why the two usually stack. Check the cashback listing’s terms first: some retailers exclude cashback on orders using a code.
The Major UK Cashback Sites
The two biggest players — both free to join. Rates on the same retailer differ between them, so comparing before a big purchase pays.
TopCashback
Headline ratesOne of the two largest UK cashback sites, covering thousands of retailers. Its rates on individual offers are often among the highest available at the time of writing, and the free membership tier is enough for most shoppers.
Quidco
Retailer coverageA major UK cashback site with a broad retailer network and a well-regarded app. Payouts can be taken as bank transfer or boosted gift cards, and the free tier covers everyday use.
The links to cashback sites on this page are not affiliate links and we earn nothing if you join — they are here because cashback genuinely combines with the voucher codes we verify. How we fund the site is explained in our advertising disclosure.
Getting Cashback Right
The four habits that decide whether cashback actually pays — all from the fine print, none of them complicated.
Check the Listing Terms
Most retailers pay cashback alongside a voucher code, but some exclude orders where a code was used — especially codes that did not come from the cashback site itself. The exclusions are listed on each retailer’s cashback page, so a ten-second check protects the whole saving.
Expect a Waiting Period
Cashback is not instant. It typically shows as “pending” within a few days, then becomes payable only after the retailer confirms the purchase — anywhere from around 30 days to several months for travel and insurance. Treat it as a delayed refund, never as money off at the till.
Chase Missing Cashback
Tracking fails occasionally — ad blockers, switching tabs mid-purchase, or the retailer not passing referral data are common causes. The major sites all run missing-cashback claim forms; keep your order confirmation email and file a claim if a purchase has not tracked within a few days.
Only Buy What You Would Anyway
Cashback only saves money on purchases you were already going to make. A percentage back on an order you did not need is still money spent — the discipline that makes cashback genuinely worthwhile is using it as a bonus on planned spending, not a reason to shop.
